Dark ambient analord Biosphere dives deeper into his fascination with Archie Mayo’s 1936 film The Petrified Forest, a tale of escapism from a life spent in an isolated, weather-beaten desert. Following the same dreamlike pace of the film, Biosphere's audio adaptation unfolds with a vast cinematic overtone that is shot forward with star gazing spoken word extracts from Joan Lorring.

Chiefly leaving behind the waterlogged techno of his previous album Departed Glories, The Petrified Forest sees Biosphere crafting out a sort of alternate soundtrack/live in the adaptation of the source material on which these recordings take their influence from. The vast landscape of Mayo’s desert providing a unique platform for the ambient tones and electro like drum patterns that sparkle high above a bed of synth textures wash with a foreboding feeling of wanting and needing affection in a hollow world, as seen through the film's protagonist.
