When he isn’t working alongside Andrew Weatherall as one half of the Two Lone Swordsmen, Keith Tenniswood likes to indulge in a little rave nostalgia under the guise of Radioactive Man. While the sphere of influence for Luxury Sky Garden spans everything from acid, techno, jungle and dub, his knowing nods to the golden age of raving and careful curation of tones recalls the work of old-skool revivalists like Special Request. That said, the cuts here look back in order to move forward - cuts like ‘Bonnet Bee’ and ‘Jommtones’ may not bring anything new to the table in terms of melody and rhythm, but there is a willingness to blend sound-worlds that feels distinctly 2017. There is also, as one might expect from an artist named Radioactive Man, a healthy dose of classic Kraftwerkism thrown in too, most apparent on the effervescent ‘Sonic Portal’.
