A real feast of talent here. Trent Reznor - he of Nine Inch Nails fame, if that needed reiterating - and his long-time producer/musical partner-in-crime Atticus Ross teamed up with Making A Murderer/Brokeback Mountain composer Gustavo Santaolalla as well as Mogwai (!) to score Leonardo DiCaprio’s Inconvenient Truth-esque documentary Before the Flood. With the film released in 2016, the music has now found its way out into the world on its own terms. This beefy release ensures bang for the buck, clocking in at 90 minutes and spread over three vinyl. The soundscapes here are as epic and brooding as one would expect for a soundtrack to a high-budget film about climate change, with the widescreen production recalling Sigur Ros or early-ambient-stage Brian Eno.
