The recent emergence of contemporary classical/ambient/drone label Sucata Tapes has brought us curious and intriguing works from the likes of Gonzo and UBEK. Glasgow’s Luar Domatrix (also known as Rodolfo Brito from Yong Yong) now throws his hat into the ring with this two-sided exploration of sound and space. Inspired by both the sounds of his native Portugal as well as science fiction (The X Files gets a mention in the press release), the two pieces here cycle through various eerie tones and textures to foster a spooky atmosphere. Synths buzz and burble, strange percussion clatters off-stage, and bastardised tape loops sputter to uneasy effect.
