Christopher Ramos is a Korean/Filipino musician operating on the fringes of contemporary electronics, with Pansori taking in the computer works of Rian Treanor as much as stark Ruff Sqwad instrumentals (check ‘Too Much’). ‘False Awakenings’ sounds like a body being spliced up and contorted, every part of its essence being reconfigured and remoulded into something unrecognisable – no easy feat! Fans of the work of the early concrete composers will find this of interest just as much as the young ravers will. Stark bursts of noise, alien sample manipulation and glass shattering effects (think a far more modern version of ‘Where Is Your Child’) all take prominence, managing to leave quite the impression.
