Person of Interest is back with five more fun, funky and wonky dancefloor cuts for Exotic Dance (DJ Xanax, J. Albert). While all groovy enough to be slotted into most sets, each of the five tracks here contains an element that freaks it to something outside classic club fare. This is particularly evident on the b-side: a squiggly melody on ‘Lost1’; the off-kilter jacking house of ‘Slab Code’; bubbly synths and a lurching breakbeat on ‘En Route’. The a-sides, while still bearing POI’s idiosyncratic touch, fall closer to the tree of the soft, smooth house made famous by the likes of Project Pablo.
