Delicate ethereal soundscapes, occasional bursts of harsh noise and ‘industrial psych’ on this second LP from Stromboli. Utilising the Revox A77 tape machine which the classic No Pussyfooting album was heavily reliant on, the Italian musician creates warped and twisted sound worlds which need some serious attention - think Helm, Valerio Tricoli et al. We’re excited to see what Stromboli does next considering the level of quality Volume Uno exudes. Interestingly the album has a surprisingly meditative quality despite being rooted in noise traditions, it’s almost as if the sheer power behind Pasquini’s compositions drive us as the listener into a state of trance. Top recommendation if you like either of the names mentioned above!
