Black Dice core member Eric Copeland has edged his way closer to the dancefloor in recent years via records on DFA and L.I.E.S., and this collection of beat experiments released via the latter contains some of his grooviest work yet. ‘Qualified’ whirrs and sputters like a tape-loop Project Pablo, and ‘Doggy’ is a lopsided stab at acid-techno. That said, fans of Copeland’s idiosyncrasies are not to be discouraged. The producer still throws in hefty wedges of out-there electronics, grainy or distorted textures and general ‘wtf’-ness - just check the weird ‘From the Hip’, a track that sounds like it’s been ripped from the soundtrack of a charity shop aerobics video.
