Now signed to Ninja Tune and two full lengths deep after 2016’s Last Night on the Planet, Letherette retread old ground with the reissuing of their first three EPs via new imprint Wulf Records. Initially issued in 2010, EP 1 comes from a rich vein in electronic music that was being mined by everyone from Flying Lotus to James Blake at the time. Dusty, rose-tinted samples abound on the record, and the spectre of the Avalanches and J Dilla looms large. Letherette’s trick, it seems, was to ratchet up the fun more so than their contemporaries - ‘Cherryade’, for instance, is as gleeful and fizzy as the title suggests.
