Initially released in 2011 through Alexander Nut’s Ho Tep (Throwing Snow, Dirg Gerner), this six-track EP from the Wolverhampton duo is playful and shiny. Drums smack with real thickness on every cut, and the samples sparkle in the same manner as those on Daft Punk’s Homework. Several tracks here - particularly ‘In and Out’ and ‘Shoe Be Do’ - evoke images of J Dilla on holiday, pina colada in one hand, MPC in the other. The two lengthier tracks, ‘Bruse’ and ‘No Point, are more rugged and robust. While the former beats Todd Terje’s ‘Delorean Dynamite’ to the electro-funk-revival punch by a couple of years, ‘No Point’ has you longing wistfully for the golden era of Kitsune and French filter house.
