With a sound that is a rugged assimilation of deep house and classic techno, Jayson Wynters’ Double Standard is an EP that many DJs will feel comfortable deploying. Opener ‘Technological Enslavement’ is as tough as they come, with an incessant 909 drum track providing a platform for a muffled vocal and lurching bassline to ramp up the creepy factor. Kowton goes even further down the rabbit hole on his remix, and there is something of a slasher movie edge to the title track too. Only on the slick, sexy ‘Sonic Boxing’ is the listener allowed to settle.
