Initially launched in 2010 as a home for his own music, Lone’s Magic Wire specialises in lovely, idiosyncratic house and has been a platform for the likes of Gnork and Project Pablo. This latest effort from DSR.MR (a collaborative project between Cloudface and Patricia) is another feather in the label’s cap. ‘Sliding Down the Avenue’ and ‘Wind’ are lilting jams, the video-game synths and 808s given a woozy finish via what sounds like a tapedeck. Elsewhere ‘Snowfall’ is a warm synth exploration, the drums taken down to a minimal patter to allow a 303 bassline to take centre stage, and ‘Slow Descent’ takes things to a darker place as its murky, chatty groove lurches between the monitors.
