Pop, the iconic 2000 LP from Wolfgang Voigt’s GAS project, gets a triple-vinyl reissue courtesy of Kompakt. This valium-hazed set of ultra-dubbed-out techno still sounds fantastic almost two decades on from its original release. On Pop, Voigt pushes Jan Jelinek’s micro-house sound into a whole other realm, washing it with delay and reverb until it dissolves into lush, humid atmospheres. Sometimes they are wed to beats, but on many of the tracks here these weightless ambiences are just left to hang in the air. Recent work by everyone from Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement to Ian William Craig to Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds bears the influence of Pop.
