London based producer SMBD, aka Simbad, goes deep into his creative repertoire in new EP Moon Theory. Since the 2007 album Supersonic Revelation, SMBD has released a broad range of electronic music, moving seamlessly between hiphop, house, soul and dusty broken beat. Moon Theory, his first release on growing label Apron Records, takes influence from Detroit techno and analogue house, with layers of scratchy vocal samples which tie the tracks together in a dreamlike groove. The EP warms up slowly with sounds of the cosmos in ‘Message’. Shuffling kickdrums in ‘Nuwhat’ take things into the night.
