South African rapper Okmalumkoolkat returns to Vienna label Affine with the second installment in his Holy Oxygen EP series. Production comes once again from The Clonious and label head Cid Rim. Okmalumkoolkat reflects on the last years of his career over the joyous Gqom-inspired ‘Straight To The Top’, while ‘Zweitbester’ is similarly invigorating, with fizzing toytown synths and tumbling percussion. The final two tracks get a bit darker – ‘Isimangaliso’ marries dubstep’s low end with the raw impact of US trap, and the dirty bass pulses of ‘Shark Attack’ make the perfect showcase for Okmalumkoolkat’s assured flow.
