Wolf Eyes debut the first release on their freshly minted Lower Floor imprint with the now zoning trip metal opus Undertow.

Having amassed a discography that reaches further into the void than most labels, let alone artists can ever begin to dream of, The U$A’s longest-running homemade primitive electronic poetry & vibes trio have decided to distill their collective output into one channel, streamlining it and starting off this ascension deeper downwards with Undertow, a record that is sure to be considered one of the very best in their collective catalogue.

Having never settled into one sound, Wolf Eyes are a group that have constantly evolved and sonically explored different areas of the genres defined only as Psycho Jazz & Trip Metal. Hugely revered by all that succumb to their sound, Wolf Eyes are more than just a 'cult band' - they contract a level of following and devotion that is unparalleled by any other group you could care to mention (except maybe the vast occult club that follow around The Fall).

Undertow distills the areas explored on the last two widely distributed albums, the De Stijl masterpiece No Answer: Lower Floors and the Third Man sideswipe I am a Problem: Mind In Pieces, with one-third of the group member Nate Young's Regression project. The result is an album that effortlessly moves the avant-garde into the abstract-garden. A mixture of death-dub, free-style-three-wheel jazz-composition, greyscale sheet metal and electronik mind muzak that comes together in a sort of primordial soup, to make the best DIY do-or-die radioactive b-movie music that you could ever hope to stumble upon.

It sounds somewhat like that long lost yet freshly unearthed from a basement flat somewhere soundtrack album, a freshly emptied packet of skins inside its sleeve alongside a roach ripped ticket stub for an imagined Throbbing Gristle & King Tubby jam session taking place in downtown Detroit.

Undertow is an utterly astonishing step into the Lower Floor from a group who can count everyone from Jack White to Demdike Stare within their legions of devoted followers, and the start of what promises to be one of the most fertile and exciting chapters in the history of what us and thousands others would term one of the most hardworking and innovative units operating in underground music today.
