This one may well be Hanni El Khatib’s magnum opus. The singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/Innovative Leisure boss turned in nineteen tracks for the five volumes of his Savage Times series, and now they are all brought together in one package. Using good old-fashioned rock ‘n’ roll as his starting point, Khatib touches on everything from blues to glam-rock to disco across the course of this LP. Throw in some impassioned, pointed and often politicised lyrics and you have Khatib’s London Calling.
