Jarvis Cocker teams up with multi-talented pianist and producer, Chilly Gonzales for a new concept album, Room 29. Written during a stay at the Hollywood Hotel Chateau Marmont and originally conceived as a theatre piece, the album paints a vivid picture of the life, love and sadness seen a hotel room. Title song ‘Room 29’ and lead track ‘Tearjerker’ show this duo’s talent for emotive storytelling; bitter loneliness, heartbreak, mundanity and petty arguments. A melancholic narrative plays throughout the album, with bittersweet piano chords from Gonzales and the sharp, deprecating wit you’d expect from the legendary Pulp frontman.
