Originally released in the late 1990s, Paradigm Records’ Anthropological Constants series towed the line between field recording, ambient music and experimental composition. This collaborative effort from Kymatik and Midwitch Cuckoos lilts softly onward, each of the three cuts floating away from form and into pure sound. ‘Dentists for Mice’ and ‘Ardeche Morning’ sound like a forest first at night and then in the day. While the former renders the soundscape with strange processed ticks and burrs, the latter is all birdsong and gently flowing streams.
