King Midas Sound's Kiki Hitomi joins forces with DJ Die Soon, DJ Hotel and Dead Fader for their debut recordings as NoinoNoinoNoino.

8 excavates the realms of Berlin DIY & early 80s post-punk and transmogrifies it into a swampy mixture of hyperreal electronics and fizzing slow-motion sub-digidub.

Said to be the blueprint on which Kiki's 2016 Jahtari album Karma No Kusari was built, 8 is a much more dread-ridden ride. While the echoes of Karma still resonate in our ears, it's easy to join the dots between the two releases, except that on 8 the beats are rugged and raw, adding a strong dose of industrial mechanics to the mix that places it on the peripheral point between the kraut-dub-metal album that would have laid influence to Kiki's fellow KMS partner Kevin 'The Bug' Martin's Macro Dub Infection series back in 1995.

While it was entirely improvised and recorded in one take, the group being completely on the same wavelength throughout the session with a real tightness to the music gives the recording a solid feeling, and, when the tape rolls round the last reel, it leaves us hungering for more.

An incredibly vivid album of haunted dub that at times sounds like a grittier version of the recent Staalplaat reissues of Muslimgauze, yet is sure to see NoinoNoinoNoino's 8 being a regular guest around the flat's of those with a strong seduction for Damo Suzuki, This Heat, Coil, Accident Du Travail & The Slits.
