Now a sort of kindly father-figure to 21st-century British club culture, Hot Chip/Greco-Roman/The Two Bears stalwart Joe Goddard follows up his 2009 debut full-length with another collection of friendly cuts. Anyone familiar with Goddard’s ouevre by now won’t be taken aback by any of the sounds on display. Warm, inviting synths purr atop chunky drums and basslines, and he matches his studio Midas touch to the sort of songwriting chops that have kept him at the top of his profession for well over a decade. Also includes a full(er) length take of ‘Lose Your Love’, with the additional version adding an extra two minutes to the soulful, chest-swelling original.
