It is always a joy to find a player who can truly claim to be a virtuoso in their given field. Julia Reidy’s innovative and effortless guitar work recalls Kaki King and Jon Rose in its breadth of scope and tone and willingness to play with harmonics, strange tunings and unusual tones. There is flamenco, jazz and the contemporary avant-garde in her style, though to pigeon-hole these three wandering pieces would be to lose the delight of them simply being good music played with great skill.
