Being referred to as the ‘icon of post-everything’ might seem a little daunting, but if anyone can take the title in their stride it’s English avant-garde hero Mike Cooper. Fresh from 2015’s Sacred Summits double LP, Cooper showcases four improvised movements recorded in Rome back in 2003. Now available on vinyl for the first time thanks to London label-to-watch Discrepant, it’s with pleasure and ease we can succumb to Cooper’s charming song-writing talent. In his own words; 'the first half is played on my old 1920s National tri-plate lap steel guitar and the second half on my vietnamese electric lap steel. I also sing two songs along the way. ‘’Movies is Magic’’ by Van Dyke Parks and “Dolphins” by Freid Neil. It was the first time I had ever sung the last song.'
