The Soniferous Garden gets its name from the work of Canadian composer and environmentalist R Murray Schafer, who defined the concept as “a garden or place of acoustic delights” to retreat to, away from the sounds of the modern world. Auntie Flo (Brian d'Souza) took this idea and ran with it, bringing together international musicians for a two-day collaborative session at the Santuri studio as part of the 2015 Ugandan Bayimba Arts Festival in downtown Kampala. The result is two meaty quarter-hour tracks, both hypnotically rhythmic while not short on melody or complexity of arrangement.
