Paul White, of One Handed Music, has always taken an abstract approach to hip-hop. For his new genre-smashing EP, Accelerator, the South London producer has enlisted the disjointed vocal talent of Detroit rapper, Danny Brown. The two previously teamed up in 2016 – Paul White co-produced Brown’s Atrocity Exhibition album on Warp. Paul White played a part in Atrocity Exhibition, but Accelerator has his name written all over it – experimental, crackly goodness. ‘Accelerator’ defies rap convention with analogue percussion and psychedelic guitars. ‘Lion’s Den’ brings the pace down and lets the sweet French vocal samples smooth away the discourse of Danny Brown’s unique lyrical flow.
