Benjamin John Power's Blanck Mass presents his most vital work since 2013's Slow Focus. Seven tracks that move deeper into the waves of noise-laden electronica that has come to define his highly valued solo project.

For those of you salivating at the thought of a new Fuck Buttons LP, World Eater is gonna take that hunger away for the foreseeable. Picking up where the brainfreeze ambient techno sludge of Dumb Flesh left off, World Eater applies a more ferociousness channeling of his cosmic electronic sound.

Opening with the cerebral frequencies of 'John Doe's Carnival of Error' a slightly out of whack musical box slowly unravels, brilliantly calling to mind his last album's closer Lung and its clockwork roll. This is perfectly complimented by the vocals that come in at saturating point, brilliantly building the track into quite possibly the heaviest intro since 'Sweet Love For Planet Earth'. Showing no sign of slowing down, we are then launched head into the horrorcore whirlwind of Rhesus Negative for a full-on metal assault that remains totally techno.

Squeezing its way into more slowed down funk territories, Please slowly uncurls itself around some Arca-like high-end synthesis with a gnarly broken garage swing. Building in momentum, it quickly becomes a destructive dose of operatic toxic sludge, before returning to the hyper gloss liquid metal of the record's core. The Rat flexes the sort of noise/pop that Prurient displayed on his Bermuda Drain LP, while Silent Treatment moves back into the rolling crunch-drum territory with more blended up vocal snatches gyrating against a melodic smashed up drum kit roll.

Closing on the album's strongest notes, Minnesota / Eas Fors / Naked Hive and Mind Blanck Mass perfectly combine the raw anger with euphoric sheen that defines the project. Mincing together the sort of nail-shredding psychoactive death metal of Suicide Commando with the industrial warehouse punishment of Traversable Wormhole, distilling its influences yet undoubtfully coming from the mind of one Benjamin John Power.

World Eater is the sort of album that, while listening to it creates the feeling of someone slowly drilled the music directly into your brain (in a good way, mind!). Whilst the record's closing minutes are the closest thing resembling anything like new music from his partnership with Andrew Hung, with Blanck Mass making records as strong (both musically and physically) as this, World Eater will be more than enough to take a large bite out of your Fuck Buttons appetite.
