Mind melting discovery from Felix Kubin's Gagarin Records imprint by way of Finders Keepers, A. K. Klosowski Plays The Kassetteninstrument is sort of like a tape wave Entroducing, made from sounds transported out of Klosowski's custom-made music apparatus consisting of eight SONY-Walkmen combined with a mute/demute mechanism!!!

Sounding like the after hours lab experiments of some sort of post-punk mad scientist, A. K. Klosowski's music flits between the sort of cut up tape experiments of Throbbing Gristle, but shot through a prism of X-Ray Spex punk and a splash of X-Ray Pop.

Recorded between 1982 and 1984, the label describes the process undertaken best: "Although drawing on pre-existing sound sources, they provide a texture that is different to digital sampling. This is not only due to the charmingly imprecise mechanics of the compact cassette with all its faults and phasings but also to the fact that the sounds don't share the same starting point, as they are picked in real time from continuously running audio tapes." This no-nonsense straight 2 tape gives the recordings an uncanny edge that in the right history books would align Klosowski in the same vein as Faust, Ruf Dug or some of the crunchier end of the L.I.E.S. spectrum.

An album that chews up proto-disco and spits it out on a tape that has its reels caught inside the internal mechanisms of a battered Golf GTI, totally punk, totally perfect.
