Genres

Scrappy underground French band Cheveu team up with west-Saharan Group Doueh on a totally out-there session recorded out in the Dakhla desert over fifteen days. One of Sublime Frequencies offerings (the label that brought us Omar Souleyman), Group Doueh is made up a husband, wife and two sons who take inspiration from James Brown and Jimi Hendrix as well as traditional local music. When combined with the post-punk / early-Animal Collective or Ariel Pink world of Cheveu, it makes for a mad but brilliant album. It's worth reading the diary over on Born Bad's website to hear how it all came about.
