Promising first wax cut from Laura Lies In, enlisting the production skills of Rupert Clervaux on what appears to be his first solo record!

Having wowed us with his skills in tandem with Beatrice Dillon for Paralaxe Editions and the excellent Snow Dog imprint, Rupert Clervaux goes it alone with his cyberpunk titled CVX project. Leaving the electronics at the door, Zibaldone I of CVX dives deep into an ocean of radiophonic found sound, electro-acoustic wonderings and low-slung trip-hop that are all pieced together to create a patchwork 17 minute plus journey in the truest sense of the word.

Opening with a Leyland Kirby sounding melancholic piano break, the record slowly gathers its thoughts, moving between the sort of vocal snatches you would expect to hear from a 2814 field recording before expanding its remit into a drum-laden groove. Throughout the duration, the music sort of meanders in and out of a puzzle of drones and live instrumentation, littered with haunted spoken word samples & 'can't quite place it' dialogue. The propulsion has us thinking that perhapsLaura Lies In due to a somewhat enjoyable form of sleep paralysis, perfectly soundtracked by a Mixmaster Morris ambient mix of Delia Derbyshire, Andy Mac, Madteo, E.R. and the Hood Faire output of David Chatton Barker & Sam McLoughlin.

This one ticks all the right boxes for us, a startlingly original release from what promises to be a most singular of labels.
