Having turned the footwork (and let's be honest, the general electronic axis) upside down with her debut long player Dark Energy, Jlin returns to Planet Mu with the first glimpse of her eagerly awaited new album Black Origami. Having secured her place at the top of the game in 2015 with both Dark Energy and the Freefall 12", Jlin continued to blaze through the underground with some stunning (yet quite slept-on we feel) remixes for Second Woman and a proper buzz for Factory Floor.

Returning to her solo productions, The Escape Of The Blvck Rxbbit (produced with Avril Stormy Unger) starts things off on a decidedly warped vibe, but don't let its disorientating swing catch you off guard, this one goes in hard. Both tracks see Jlin using her perfectly executed percussive skills to echo what we could only describe as a sort of minimalist Randomer moving into the mode of Photek's Modus Operandi. While it matches some echoes of drum & bass with its tempo, the sounds Jlin pulls from her machines represent some of the most shocking electronic sounds we have heard in a long time. Not since the late DJ Rashad (R.I.P.) has anyone taken footwork this far out, whilst retaining their signature stamp on the sound. An absolutely crucial plate and the start of what is sure to be another year dominated by the unstoppable force that is Jlin.
