Apron records end 2016 in the same way they started it – by releasing a Shamos record. The second EP from the London DJ/Producer and NTS radio badderman is lusciously deep and distinctly more groove orientated than its predecessor. Opening with ‘Palace Pavilion’, the washed out, dubby chords and simply effective bassline combine superbly to drive things forward, allowing the percussive rattle’n’shakes to colour the grey ether. ‘Crisp Biscuit’ contains an acid energy that rocks way above its BPM, while ‘Real Dreams’ brings it down a gear with sentimental keys, loose bassline throbs and R2D2 evoking soundbites.
