Making his debut on Ten Thousand Yen from his new home in Montreal is the one they call Deadboy. Coming with three off-kilter, rumbling house jams and one ambient version (exclusive to the vinyl release) that ooze fresh air and lush, green scenes as well as not so weirdly reflecting the sounds the Pacific north west has become renowned for. The title track features skippy hi-hats and reflective, minor key harmonics, while ‘Ten of Cups’ chugs on with loose claps and a wonderful array of melodic elements. However, it’s the ambient version where you grasp its real beauty. Flowing water can be heard throughout and the various keys/chords aren’t hindered by the sound of the drums.
