Firm favourites of the archival reissue world present a compilation of gritty funk from deepest New Orleans. Spanning 70’s boogie funk through to 50’s popcorn, Soul Jazz have collated an impressive range of musical stylings that manage to revolve around an underlying connecting axis. Big rare groove want ‘Action Speak Louder than Words’ by Chocolate Milk was our first pick of the bunch, but with repeated listens the compilation stands out as a carefully considered and expertly segued musical experience. As much for attentive home listeners as it is for DJs after previously hard-to-find gems!
