Domino offshoot Weird World (Peaking Lights, Melody’s Echo Chamber) present the debut LP from Los Angeles auteur Alex Izenberg. Harlequin is a grandiose set that manages to avoid spilling over into self-indulgent pomp. The most obvious comparisons are with the theatrical alternative rock of Scott Walker and Wild Beasts. There’s a vaudeville quality to the likes of ‘To Move On’ and ‘The Moon’ which recalls Pram and Dresden Dolls in equal measure.
