Isan, the project of hardware fans Antony Ryan und Robin Saville, release their first album in six years on their long-time Berlin label home Morr Music. Conceived in both Antony’s studio and Denmark and Robin’s studio in England, Glass Bird Movement is their eight studio album since the inception of the endeavour two decades ago.

The fiddly electronics, strange sounds and complex rhythms are grounded by recurring subs. On ‘Lace Murex’, the patient kick drum and precise percussion work in similar ways, embedding the subdued instrumentals and bird song in a solid frame. It’s those reference points that guide us through their hugely imaginative world of multi-textured ambient fields (as displayed on ‘Risefallsleep’) and layered loops of playful noises (‘Glass Bird Movement’).
