Nightmares On Wax builds his sickest release for a while with the deep house nostalgia of Grounded.
Nightmares has been belting out classics for longer than a lot of you may have been buying records. From early breakbeat forays with A Word Of Science through the trip-hop diggers digest of Smoker's Delight to the later day dub of Thought So... but on Grounded he draws influence from all his past late nights to turn out one of his best 12"s bar none.
Opener World Inside feat. Andrew Ashong deploys a nifty Hacienda style piano to an all-nightlong kick drum to absolutely (dance) flooring effect. Scratch that! Is prime time Nightmares, stoned soulful funk while the gems are on the B, Reclaim the Balcony feat. Wolfgang Haffner is another tasty breakbeat shuffler while the closing track Dirty Triumphant produced with the Acid Mondays features some smart basslines biznizz and early dated electro machine funk.
Despite being rooted in past indulgences, this 12" really shows that for NOW, NOW really is the time.
