Chicago based Teklife affiliate DJ Taye presents four new tracks for Steve Goodman’s Hyperdub label. Psychedelic and unconventional takes on the footwork sound come together to form an especially individual atmosphere, worth noting in particular on ‘Go 2 Sleep’. The EP closer ‘Move Out’ shows the evolution of the hyper-melodic synth music that the likes of Guido were making in the dubstep era – where steady 140 bpm drum patterns were eschewed for a much faster and more frantic approach to rhythm. Big tip for all fans of the Hyperdub label, footwork devotees and anyone interested in the current convergence of American influences on British dance music culture.
