Jeff Mills back on his heady, sci-fi trip with a 12" that could be mistaken for the more icy moments of Pan Sonic.
Lead track ‘The Hunter’ is taken from his recent album Free Fall Galaxy and feels like an alien life form scouring the depths of deep space for its prey, though never quite catching it. ‘Asphyxiation’ is bleepy, rolling techno in the vein of Mills’ dystopian visions. The metallic percussion comes in waves, gradually building and building. ‘The Kill Zone’ closes out the release again with the spacey dystopian feeling, though this time its floatier and then the drop comes and the kicks roll out and once again it feels like a dancefloor bomb.
