Death Is Not the End continues down their path of Mississippi-esque cultural preserves, this time collating the sacred harp singing of early 20th century pastoral America. Spanning eleven years, which just manage to eschew both the first and second world war, they present twelve heart wrenching aural documents of a very special time in the land of freedom. ‘Weeping Pilgrim’ and ‘Rocky Road’ are especially endearing, managing to call to mind some sense of nostalgia for a time and place which feels as if it may or may not have existed.
