Industrial dubstep don Distance returns to his early (chest)plates for inspiration on Dynamis, featuring an array of OG dubstep, but with echoes of grime and hip-hop added in for nice variation.

Returning for his third long player is Greg Sanders aka Distance. Having been away and produced for the likes of Riz MC, Jeb Loy Nichols and Jon More of Coldcut, his ears were opened to sounds away from the 140bpm template he was previously adhering to. On Dynamis though we find him back trawling through that same murky territory that he’s famed for. ‘Paradigm’ smacks like a blow to the jaw, with sounds pushed to their outer limits of distortion and weight. ‘Betrayal’ tells the story of a love rat over a gnarly, angered beat. ‘Serpent’ coming in at just over 2 minutes run time is one of the more interesting tracks. Heavily filtered/crushed sounds with nods to the middle east in its sample choices.
