With A Certain Ratio’s fortieth birthday looming Mute have decided to reissue all of the groundbreaking group’s LPs. Their fifth album Force ranks as one of the band’s highpoints. Toning down the wild freakery of records like To Each without losing any of ACR’s trademark bite, many of the tracks here are workouts for both body and mind. ‘Bootsy’ and ‘Mickey Way’ are ragged reimaginings of Parliament, while the ‘Fever 103’ has a little Pet Shop Boys to it and closer ‘Si Firmir O Grido’ is a wild punk carnival.
