Romare’s second album is a collection of love songs: the London producer, real name Archie Fairhurst, explores the feeling with all of its aspects – from sexual urges to first encounters, affairs and the questioning of one’s love.

While like his 2015 debut, the album is released on Ninja Tune, the title reveals a connection to his 2013 EP of afro-infused beats on Black Acre, called Love Songs: Part 1. Less informed by the jazz and blues of Projections, Part 2 sees Fairhurst turns to disco and psychedelic, resulting in a dubbier feel. Thus, it’s the bass lines that dominate the album's melodies: they manifest themselves in the form of funky disco, showcased on ‘All Night’, its drumming bridging the album with Part 1, and the single ‘Who Loves You’ with its dreamy string synths taking us right back to the 1970s. The fuzzy, tremolo and delay-manipulated guitar of ‘Don’t Stop’ references the same decade, and on 'Come Close To Me’, the low frequency notes are delivered in the form of a deep syncopated organ. All their different shapes relate to the different emotional states experienced through love – best illustrated on ‘New Love’, its agitated, stumbling bass line perfectly capturing the tension and uncertainty of a young relationship.
