AP Macarte – better known as one part of Salford krautrockers Gnod – issues his second cassette with Sacred Tapes. Meditations on Mahākāla meets somewhere in the middle of Macarte's Arundel Tapes V.1 and his earlier AHRKH work; it's hypnotic and meditative but with a sense of purpose or urgency. It was Om's Rob AA Lowe who showed Macarte the modular ropes and you'll find his influence if you look for it, but Macarte's own sonic tendencies and reflections on eastern philosophy take centre stage. Compelling stuff worth lying down to enjoy.
