Bleep

The fourth release from Lee Gamble’s consistently impressive UIQ imprint comes from the already established S Olbricht. Its punchy, grave and washed in a crackly haze. Opening with ‘137x3brk’ which bleeps harmoniously and bangs in a rather rough fashion. ‘Ktyring’ is all about the tilting percussion and elongated chords which steadily build the tension, though not so much as to overexcite. ‘J_uc’ features mild, machinist squeaks and a lowly thumping kick, and little else. Very environmental. The closing track keeps the trend for strange titles – ‘F1oa1’ is a beatless, floaty ensemble, fit for drifting off on an inflatable dingy on the sea, with a gentle sun beaming brightly in the blue, blue sky
