The score for Nicolas Roeg’s The Man Who Fell To Earth gets a vinyl reissue to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the film’s release. Though the front cover may show off lead actor David Bowie, no music from Ziggy Stardust features here. Instead the soundtrack is largely helmed by John Phillips and Stomu Yamashta. While Phillips provides leftfield library compositions like ‘Jazz II’ and ‘America’, Yamashta’s music is more impressionistic and avant-garde. The two styles work well together and are nicely complemented by songs from the likes of Louis Armstrong and The Kingston Trio.
