Constellation present the new album from Montreal based composer Jason Sharp, who primarily operates in the field of drone music with his saxophone. We’re instantly reminded of the work of Garrett List here, a trombonist who worked with Alvin Curran to make some incredibly subtle and transcendental ambient music back in the 70’s. By no means is Sharp’s album derivative however, as there is a firmly contemporary sound to the pieces on this long-form debut. The artist also deploys reed drones and is accompanied by violin and steel guitar from Josh Zubot and Joe Grass.
