Levon Vincent covering Tubular Bells, need we say anymore?

Only a few months after the release of his previous EP, New Yorker Levon Vincent treats us to another limited 12-inch on his own Novel Sound label. His first acid track in 12 years, ‘Birds’ sees him vamp up the 303 sound with field recordings of birds – and offers rare and funny insight into how well the goose call is matched to the squeaking synthesizer. The fun continues on the B side, which has the producer cover Mike Oldfield’s 1973 composition ‘Tubular Bells’: he speeds up the iconic minimalistic piano pattern and sets it to a roomy, hard hitting kick drum.
