Following Icelandic artist Ólafur Arnalds, the next multi-talent to tell us his very own Late Night Tales is veteran Belfast DJ and soundtrack composer David Holmes.

His 19-track spanning selection captures in sound how he perceives moving through life, expressively showcased on the compilation’s exclusives: along the lines of their Sleeping Tapes collaboration, the 16-minute epic from Hollywood star Jeff Bridges and Keefus Ciancia features the sounds of a new-born baby over lullaby-esque guitar arpeggios and nocturnal narration. Complying with the Late Night Tales tradition of including a cover version, Holmes-produced Irish duo Song Sung deliver a beautifully soft reinterpretation of 10cc’s 1975 hit ‘I’m Not In Love’. This mood – pregnant with meaning – carries through the mix which culminates in another celtic moment, with Stephen Rea reading Seamus Heaney over a blissful ambient collab between Jon Hopkins and the creator himself.
