Operated by Semtek, the Don’t Be Afraid label really took off in 2014 with releases from Mr. Beatnick and MGUN making their way into many high profile DJ’s record bags. The latest 12” showcases two long, drifting deep house mutations from No Pain in Pop favourite Karen Gwyer. Starting off as quite subdued and introspective, both tracks begin to unfurl into frenzied percussion, with the title tracks relentless snare drums making it the perfect mixing tool. Nesting between the two dance cuts is the scarcely over a minute long jam ‘And Again Those Eyes’, sounding like a modern day Tonto’s Exploding Head Band skit.
