With the release of his proper debut single on their new joint label venture Paul Institute, Jai Paul’s brother A.K. Paul reignites our hope for more official material from the family. His talent as a producer has landed him collaborations with Big Boi, Jessie Ware, Sam Smith and Miguel, and ‘Landcruisin’ perpetuates his good reputation. The same way in which he garnishes his melismatic falsetto vocals with multiple backings, the single's main electric guitar phrase is embedded in a motorcycle driving towards us and away again as the song fades out. Those clever sonic references account for his music’s appeal – they also find expression in the strident, at times brass-like synths with which he embellishes his modern soul.
